A combination of Long Tall Sally, Monsoon, Boots, M&S and Olivia Burton. It was a fairly busy one, dashing here and there but I managed to twist someones arm to grab a photo of my outfit or an OOTD post. I opted for a party skirt and warm jumper combination and indulged my inner Audrey Hepburn by choosing a little black top and necklace look. I've mentioned a few of these items on the blog before so I hope long term readers will enjoy this outfit put together in in 'real' life.<br />

<b>Necklace Knit Jumper</b>, Long Tall Sally. A warm (but not bulky) black knitted jumper with an embellished bead neckline. Forget the statement necklace, this does it all in one. Many of my friends have commented on how much they like this jumper. It has a cute keyhole button fastening at the back and is long enough not to expose your midriff. I wore it tucked into my skirt on this occasion, but when I leave it untucked, it doesn't rise up throughout the day (unlike some of my other jumpers which I am forever adjusting and pulling down #TallProblems). I normally go up a size in jumpers (so I can layer underneath)- I got a size S instead of XS and it fits perfectly. I don't think they will hang around long enough to go in the winter sale, so I thoroughly recommend grabbing this quick if you like the look <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/necklace-knit-sweater-06H22#06H22BLA">(link)</a><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">See the built in jumper neckline? Great if you are in a rush too!</td></tr>

I always wear a cami top under a jumper. The problem with winter is that you freeze the moment you set foot outside, and then overheat at your destination. Layers are key. I have mainly opted for a floaty top if going to a formal event (mostly the double layer cami from Long Tall Sally (and it is currently in the sale!) <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/double-layer-camisole-08H08#08H08BLA">link</a>). Normally I'll just wear a plain cami if I need an everyday extra layer which will look respectable but not too dressy. (Incidentally LTS seem to have most of their cami tops reduced to £7 and if they are they same as the ones I have had previously then they are 1) warm 2) so very soft and 3) have adjustable straps 4) suitable for anyone of average to tall height <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/search?q=cami&p=camisole">link</a>).<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">No filter on this- just the crazy sun! Monsoon Galaxy skirt</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This <b>Galaxy Full Jacquard Skirt</b> from Monsoon caught my magpie eye. Full is certainly the word. It is beautifully stitched with stars and combines rich blue and purple tones. It has the added detail of an exposed zip at the back. You know when you are at primary school and you have a party skirt? (A big sparkly/silky skirt that you could wear to birthday parties, Christmas and non-uniform day (before everyone starts to live in jeans)? This is my grown up version. It is currently in the sale reduced from £59 to £17, though if it is out of stock online then keep checking back for returns, or pop into store (<a href="http://uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.11/6410170210">link</a>)<br />
<br />
<b>Tights:</b> Boots standard black tights 70 denier. I generally have to get size large because they the size for tall slim ladies. I really wish that they labelled them differently. I think us tall girls feel like we stick out anyway, so having to pick tights 2 sizes larger 'just' because they will fit your height... Anyway, size aside I have been getting my tights from <a href="http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SolrSearchLister?storeId=10052&catalogId=11051&langId=-1&searchTerm=boots%20black%20tights&t1_page=2#container">Boots</a> and <a href="http://www.marksandspencer.com/l/lingerie/tights">M&S</a> since my school days so I haven't really branched out. I put my toe through this pair, and need to buy some more. I'm happy to take recommendations if you I should cast my net wider than Boots and M&S!<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Crazy shoe selfie. It was really difficult to get a picture</td></tr>

<b>Plain black leather court shoes from M&S.</b> These <a href="http://www.marksandspencer.com/l/women/footglove">FootGlove</a> have insolia technology i.e. inbuilt insoles that support your feet. It's no secret that high heels can really damage out bodies by changing our posture and putting all the weight onto the ball of the foot. Insolia was (I believe) designed by a chiropodist to help evenly distribute a persons weight over their entire foot- even when wearing high heels. They are so comfy to wear. I can easily wear them all day (unlike some other brands in my wardrobe which leave me shuffling like a robot after 1 hour). M&S also carry some 'everyday' heel heights- i.e. 1-3 inches. I found these by accident when I'd exhausted local shoe shops and needed a pair of plain shoes. Defeated, I walked through M&S on my way home and saw these. Resigned to failure, I tried them on and was really surprised. They don't stock this style anymore, but there are similar ones here (<a href="http://www.marksandspencer.com/leather-mid-heel-pleated-court-shoes/p/p22366035?colour=Black">link</a>). Life Lesson: Try on things- even if you think they wont fit/suit you.<br />

<br />
<b>Jewellery: </b>Because of the inbuilt necklace in the jumper, I kept my accessories simple. Just a pair of locally made glass earrings and my Olivia Burton blue butterfly big dial watch. It's from a previous season (<a href="http://5foot10.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/olivia-burton-vintage-woodland-watches.html">blogged here</a>) but I have found the same design with a brown strap in the current season at Topshop (<a href="http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?searchTerm=olivia+burton&storeId=12556&productId=18113394&urlRequestType=Base&categoryId=&langId=-1&productIdentifier=product&catalogId=33057">link</a>). I am a big OB fan- I think the designs are gorgeous.<br />

They can be completely impractical, but I still gravitate towards them. I purchased a(nother) sequin clutch this season. I have been pretty good in the sales, so I don't feel too bad about purchasing this mermaid sequin clutch. When I saw it, my heart skipped a beat (and my mouse clicked the clutch into my shopping bag!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Isn't it pretty? Love at first sight. Mermaid Sequin Clutch. Very spacious, faux leather back, internal zip pocket and TONNES of SEQUINS! Unlike anything I
own. It is strikingly gorgeous and matches the shoes I blogged about in
the <a href="http://5foot10.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/sale-picks.html">last pos</a>t! I can see it paired with a black outfit, small heels and a cute jacket. There aren't too many left but it is an affordable treat and a great January pick-me-up (<a href="http://www.asos.com/asos/asos-mermaid-zip-top-clutch-bag/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4516354&clr=Green&SearchQuery=mermaid+sequin+clutch&SearchRedirect=true">link</a>).<br />
<br />
<br />
I purchased the one below in the summer it is now in the sale and sits perfectly for any season (winter festive sparkles, or a spring/summer wedding). It is a mixture of silver and gold, meaning that it will compliment any jewellery. The chain strap is delicate and can be be tucked inside, or kept on display if you prefer a more 'shoulder friendly and hands free' bag. You can view further details <a href="http://www.oasis-stores.com/cahir-glitter-clutch/accessories/oasis/fcp-product/5330056776">here</a>. <br />

<br />
I am trying to be restrained, but something about sequins hypnotises me. I also have a Michael Kors gold sequin fold clutch (sorry no photos*) so that brings my total to three... for now ;) <br />
<br />
*My camera is charging so I hope to extract my Christmas Day outfit pictures shortly :) An actual OOTD post!<br />
<br />
Do you like sequin bags? Are you doing anything special for new year?<br />
P.s. I have tweaked the blog a bit, and made a new header. I'd love to know your thoughts! <br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">These shoes by Steve Madden caught my eye. They are gorgeous duo-chrome in a turquoise with petrol hue. Be warned, the heel is high, though they are well made. I picked them up full price but had to return them because I fall between sizes. If you are looking for a New Year's Eve outfit (or just a bright shoe to wear to work, then I an recommend these (and they are now £41) at Dune (<a href="http://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/anastasia-beverly-hills-brow-wiz.html">link</a>) and House of Fraser (<a href="http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Steve+Madden+Gallery+High+Pointed+Toe+Court+Shoe/209908752,default,pd.html">link</a>). If your size is not in stock, then keep checking for returns. I have stalked many items which are 'out of stock' until the returns flood in.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">It's no in the sale, but I can't recommend this black jumper with beaded collar enough. I wore it on Christmas day and I was so warm. I did take a few outfit photos so I will try to upload them shortly. I went up a size and it fits really well (and is long enough!) so don't be afraid to go up a size. <span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I am also stalking <a href="https://www.hush-uk.com/">Hush Homewear online</a> a fair bit. They make lovely items (long items!), and the quality is good. They currently have a pre-sale on (which is 20% off everything). <span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">My feet get so cold (#TallProblems) so I purchased the most soft and fluffy boot slippers I have EVER found. For us 'taller' girls, Long Tall Sally is a godsend. Designed for 5' 8" and up, you don't have to be worried that their top might not cover your midriff, or the jeans might not reach the floor. Each item is designed to fit and sit right- but with a few extra inches in length. Below I share my picks for Christmas Day, a Christmas Party, Christmas Gifts and a Christmas Shopping trip.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I normally pair a long jumper dress, with some skinny jeans- however sometimes skinny jeans aren't very warm. These Leather Look Trousers from TTYA x LTS (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/ttya-leather-look-trousers-03T42">link</a>) and Two Tone Cowl Neck jumper dress (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/two-tone-cowl-neck-tunic-06H26#06H26BGR">link</a>) will trap a layer of heat and keep me nice and warm. I love cowl necks as they mean I leave my scarf at home (and done end up trailing it about the shop floor)! I have no idea how long I will be shopping, but there is nothing worse than 'shuffling' down the high street because your feet are on fire! Flats are a must, and I like these Leather Ankle Biker Boots (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/leather-ankle-biker-boot-16H23#16H23BLA">link</a>).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Some people go shopping without a jacket or coat, however I get cold easily and generally take a massive coat. Then I overheat and wish I had left it at home! I found a compromise by way of the Hooded Coated Jacket (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/hooded-coated-jacket-10H02#10H02KHA">link</a>). It is lightweight so won't weight you down, but adds a waterproof and windproof layer should you be shopping at an outdoor Christmas market or caught in a rain or snow shower while waiting for your train. (Don't forget your long fingered gloves and a bobble hat!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>Christmas Party</b></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This year I think it will be a 'straight from work' small do, so I will probably be wearing smart office wear. Add a bit of volume to tired locks with a spritz of dry shampoo, and a quick touch of sophisticated darker makeup (For a quick party fix I love <a href="http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/CHANEL+ILLUSION+D%60OMBRE+Long+Wear+Luminous+Eyeshadow/158490137,default,pd.html">Chanel's Illusion d'ombre eyeshadows</a> in Epatant or Mirifique as they can be applied in ten seconds with fingertips- but look like you took 20 minutes). Add a hint of glitter or shimmer lipgloss (Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier), or a dark berry lipstick (<a href="http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/lips-in-beguiled-37113">Beguiled by Topshop</a>) and you're good to party at the pub after work!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dn18DJmO8to/VHO3vfTxewI/AAAAAAAAAjs/S2Uj5Dg4WQA/s1600/Christmas%2BParty%2BLTS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dn18DJmO8to/VHO3vfTxewI/AAAAAAAAAjs/S2Uj5Dg4WQA/s1600/Christmas%2BParty%2BLTS.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This Necklace Knit Sweater (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/necklace-knit-sweater-06H22">link</a>) is 2 for 1- you don't have to worry about accessories as it has an inbuilt necklace. It reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would wear. Depending on how hot or cold the weather is that day, I would pair it with some simple black Leather Look Panel Camden Trousers (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/leather-look-panel-camden-09H19-09H20-09H21#09H19BLA_09H20BLA_09H21BLA">link</a>) or a Coated Pencil skirt <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/coated-skirt-04H01#04H01BLA">(link</a>). Add a double layer camisole top (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/double-layer-camisole-08H08#08H08BLA">link</a> in case I overheat in the jumper), and a pair of double zip suede boots (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/double-zip-suede-ankle-boot-16H03#16H03BLA">link</a>) that transition from day to night seamlessly. However if you're lucky enough to have a Christmas ball to attend (rather than post-work office drinks) then LTS have some great long gowns. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>Christmas Day</b></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">For Christmas Day, it has to be the novelty Christmas Jumper (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/robin-sweater-06H28#06H28LGM">link</a>), and a pair of comfy, warm jeans (I love <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/super-stretch-camden-09H34-09H35#09H34DRT_09H35DRT">these</a> skinny teal colour ones with 'super stretch' for after Christmas dinner!) and low heels (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/deluxe-suede-court-16H08#16H08BLA">link)</a> so I wont fall over after a sherry or two! If the weather is dry, then I normally end up on a Christmas day walk, so a smart warm coat is essential. This removable fur Boucle Coat (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/wool-mix-belted-boucle-coat-10H04#10H04BAB">link</a>) epitomises vintage glamour. Add a bold lip (Japonesque have a great burnt red/orange lip paint) and sculpt your hair into a soft wave, and you could be straight out of the 1940s.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MrdETP-ZchY/VHO3u5pn-gI/AAAAAAAAAjo/xMD-N1F1UwI/s1600/Christmas%2BDay%2BStyle%2BLTS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MrdETP-ZchY/VHO3u5pn-gI/AAAAAAAAAjo/xMD-N1F1UwI/s1600/Christmas%2BDay%2BStyle%2BLTS.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Gift Ideas</b></span></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I am
always careful to buy gifts that aren't too 'fitted', unless I
know the recipients exact size. This Cranberry Sequin Beanie hat (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/sequin-beanie-hat-15H09#15H09CRA">link</a>) and matching snood (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/sequin-snood-15H08#15H08CRA">link</a>)
have a bit of Christmas sparkle and will brighten any friend's
wardrobe. I think the colour will compliment any hair colour making it a universal hit. They are free size so anyone of any height can wear them.
They can also be purchased separately. Any cat mad friend will love
this Cat Sweater (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/cat-intarsia-sweater-06H10#06H10DGM">link</a>) (and if they are under 5' 8" then it'll be a jumper dress or tunic). If your friend isn't cat mad then this Lacy Stitch Knit Jumper (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/lacy-stitch-knit-sweater-06H21#06H21MLL">link</a>) is a soft, stylish extra layer, without looking weird if you accidentally buy too big. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QBEP-8JOgNY/VHO3vQweO2I/AAAAAAAAAjw/oZPGeT7g8q0/s1600/Christmas%2BGifts%2BLTS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QBEP-8JOgNY/VHO3vQweO2I/AAAAAAAAAjw/oZPGeT7g8q0/s1600/Christmas%2BGifts%2BLTS.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Tall people often have poor circulation and keeping warm can be an issue. LTS have a cute pair of fluffy slippers (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/c/tall/footwear/womens-large-size-slippers">link</a>), and a good range of pyjamas long enough to cover your ankles. I have these cosy, brushed cotton Large Gingham Check PJ Bottoms (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/large-gingham-check-pj-bottom-2nd-hit-13H02#13H02BLX">link</a>) for a friend, although the Spot Print PJ Set (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/spot-print-pj-set-13H14#13H14TEI">link</a>) in teal and white also caught my eye. Yes onesies are great (and LTS have a few good ones!) BUT sometimes you want a good pair of PJs, complete with buttons down the front. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">So there are my picks. I hope this has given you some inspiration and shown that if you are 5' 8" and up, you need not compromise fashion just because you are 'above average' height. I also hope this post has provided a bit of inspiration for those of you who might be purchasing a Christmas gift for a special tall girl in your life. LTS do have some great discounts at the moment so certainly worth a look.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">What would be your dream wardrobe addition for Christmas? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>

</div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I always feel really frumpy and lethargic in winter, so I decided to revamp my wardrobe and fake a bit of energy by wearing bright colours. I may feel like hibernating, but my clothes are radiating a little brightness!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TpdpazqFQCE/VG4pz-XCynI/AAAAAAAAAjM/Gis5VSIBJZc/s1600/Winter%2BBrights.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TpdpazqFQCE/VG4pz-XCynI/AAAAAAAAAjM/Gis5VSIBJZc/s1600/Winter%2BBrights.png" height="266" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">1) I have a slight addiction to Oasis' blouses. They are light, perfectly
tailored and have adjustable sleeves so can be worn in spring and summer
too. When I saw this lime blouse (although Oasis call it 'Yellow', but
it's more a hot, bright lime)... I purchased two. (Does anyone else
purchase two of something they love??!) I have the same blouse cut in
several other colours and patterns and have had a lot of compliments (<a href="http://www.oasis-stores.com/hummingbird-2-in-1-jumper/tops/oasis/fcp-product/3610214024">link</a>). I now have my eye on the teal one (<a href="http://www.oasis-stores.com/silver-button-down-detail-shirt/tops/oasis/fcp-product/3790014527">link</a>).</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">2) Long Tall Sally Herringbone Aline Magenta skirt. I am a big fan of A-line skirts- flattering to the figure and easy to style for formal or casual wear, however many don't have pockets. I am a practical girl and I love my trousers and skirts to have pockets. (It feels wrong if they don't have pockets- maybe that is just me?) The colour caught my eye, and I plan on pairing it with the cobalt blue coat... unless that is a bit bright... (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/herringbone-aline-skirt-04H04#04H04MAG">link</a>).</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">3) Wallis Cobalt Blue Funnel Coat (currently on offer with 20% off!) (<a href="http://www.wallis.co.uk/en/wluk/product/clothing-265973/coats-265995/cobalt-stitch-detail-funnel-coat-3529860?bi=1&ps=200">link</a>)
I love this coat and it fits perfectly. Having mostly had dark
coloured coats, I felt it was time to brighten my outdoor attire. A simple way to lift any outfit. </span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mBy6BqvGOrA/VG4uOG0CStI/AAAAAAAAAjY/Rr0Z6sJoWkU/s1600/Wallis%2BColbalt%2Bblue%2Bfunnel%2Bcoat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mBy6BqvGOrA/VG4uOG0CStI/AAAAAAAAAjY/Rr0Z6sJoWkU/s1600/Wallis%2BColbalt%2Bblue%2Bfunnel%2Bcoat.jpg" height="400" width="260" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bright Coats. Why not?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">4) I'm now on the look out for a nice burgundy (or red) chunky scarf so I
can keep the winter chills at bay. I found this one on ASOS (<a href="http://www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Cable-Scarf/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4245983&istCompanyId=6f061ed0-7427-4b6c-bb90-987c0bd08468&istItemId=walrpxrrx&istBid=tzti&affid=14173&channelref=google+shopping&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=58090274066&utm_content=&utm_campaign=&cvosrc=ppc.google.58090274066&network=g&mobile=&search=1&content=&creative=53496280341&ptid=58090274066&adposition=1o2&gclid=CjwKEAiAv7ajBRCIldS7rp7wzFkSJAAA1n4D8zdkBQcUxyYuW6VL4-9XYqgg9TiVm59SWJbFW9stoxoC9H_w_wcB">link</a>), though I am still determined to knit one at some point in my life! If you know any good knitting sites, let me know!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">5) Oasis Hummingbird jumper top. I've actually been finding that I can wear quite a few items at Oasis, so it seems they are catering for the slightly taller girl. Layering tops (or cheating and buying a 'fake' layered top) is a great way to gain an extra bit of length- especially with the current trend for cropped jumpers. This one at Oasis caught my eye- I'm a sucker for vintage inspired (bird) prints (<a href="http://www.oasis-stores.com/hummingbird-2-in-1-jumper/tops/oasis/fcp-product/3610214024">link</a>).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Are bright colours just for summer? How are you brightening your winter wardrobe? </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Just a round-up of life, news, links, and things I like.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I was walking through some beautiful autumn leaves a couple of days ago and had to stop to take a photo for <a href="http://instagram.com/5foot10blog">instagram</a>. It was too good to miss. Beautiful leaves and my blue converse trainers (purchased from the great selection at Long Tall Sally (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/c/tall/brands/converse">link</a>)). </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Weirdly the jeans were from Fat Face a few months back. I was really, really surprised that they fit length wise. If you want to check them out then here is the <a href="http://www.fatface.com/icat/womensjeans">link</a>- I think they were the Smithy Bootcut Darkest Rinse Jeans. Soft fabric with a bit of stretch. Don't forget that if you are a student they will give you money off (and some stores have 20% off for students at the moment).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I actually needed a piece of furniture this week, so after stalking pinterest for a day (<a href="http://uk.pinterest.com/5foot10/">link</a>) I headed off round the shops. I ended up narrowing it down and then going between Next Home, Laura Ashley, Home Sense and Dunelm repeatedly. I was actually a little scared at how giddy Home Sense made me. I could actually legitimately buy things from there and not feel guilty! Yes I know it is mass produced and most people will have the same things... but it still has this way of making me want to buy fifty things I didn't know I needed. I know I have nowhere to put 10 cushions... but I still wanted them. (I did spot a bunch of NEOM organics for £5-£10 and This Works deep sleep products, so if you are after a bargain then head to <a href="http://www.homesense.com/">Home Sense</a> (or it's sister store TK Maxx). Sadly I have to go back to Dunelm.... hide my bank card!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />Finally, I've been poorly this last few weeks. It wasn't caused by makeup but it did serve as a timely reminder that generally makeup and skincare products have expiry dates and that clearing them our periodically is good for your health! Take mascara for example, each time you use it you are transferring bacteria from the tube to your face, and then new bacteria from your face into the tube (unless you use a new mascara wand each dip!). Same with lipsticks, pencils, lipglosses (especially the tubs you dip your finger in), and some skincare.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The general rules are;</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">If it is broken or smells/looks weird... chuck it. My recycle bin is now full. I felt a little guilty but I now have a bit more space and will 'shop my stash' more!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">See what Bobbi Brown says here (<a href="http://www.elle.com/news/beauty-makeup/makeup-expiration-date-shelf-life-bobbi-brown-guide">link</a>). Or see what I wrote way back in 2009! (<a href="http://computergirl2007.blogspot.co.uk/2009/09/info-make-upproduct-hygene.html">link</a>) Bobbi uses cute graphics- I appear to have lost the pictures on my post, but the words are still there.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">That's all for this Sunday Service. What has your week been like?</span><br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="tab-stops: 51.0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;">A bit of both. Some days I love my height – being able to see at
concerts, being able to pull off many different styles of clothes and being
described as “legs up to here” are all pretty awesome. Some days it’s fairly
rubbish, like when I hang out with my tiny friends or mum. I joke that when I
wear heels with my friends I must look like a man in drag compared to them!</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;">Thankfully there aren’t too many funny stories, although a couple of

<div class="MsoNormal" style="tab-stops: 51.0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;">I like to go a bit vintage-inspired so I tend to go for 60s looks
(probably because I can get away with a lot of skirts and dresses rather than
having to find trousers that fit!) I love </span><span lang="EN" style="mso-ansi-language: EN;">Brigitte Bardot’s style, particularly her hair and

over her wardrobe, wishing I could wear shorts to work. </span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="tab-stops: 51.0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;">Embrace your height and don’t let it stop you wearing highstreet styles
with skirts and cropped trousers. Make sure you try everything on and if you’re
not 100% comfortable in what you’re wearing, then don’t bother! Walk tall and
enjoy being able to see over other people. </span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="tab-stops: 51.0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;">Sounds strange, but my Mum always says the advantage is being able to
put on a little weight and it doesn’t really show! Also, being able to step
over rows of seating and fences to get to places quicker! I’m clearly
impatient. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Just in case some of you missed the post about Sam Chapman (one half of Pixiwoo) and her amazing style then click<a href="http://5foot10.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/tall-style-sam-chapman-pixiwoo-5-10.html"> this link</a>. I've had some great feedback from it, and there are some more in the pipeline. She is 5' 10" and a style inspiration.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">2) I was interested to read a BBC article this morning about how short men make better husbands. This quote stuck out;</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><i>"</i></span><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><i>In fact, people who have this kind of freedom rarely use it well.
Fashion models, free to choose, inevitably choose rock stars - and since
rock stars, freed by their glamour to choose, invariably choose to take
a lot of drugs and go on the road and smash up hotel rooms in
preference to being in a stable relationship, the models are always
badly disappointed by their choice. You see them crying on the shoulders
of the short men - dipping their long swan-like necks way down to do
so, perhaps, but there you are, they do. Frequent failure is the true
price of free choice"</i></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The article touches on how short men are cute, like penguin chicks... That and how Napoleon wasn't actually as short as we generally make out (due to different measuring systems). I'm not sure I agree with the article completely though it would be interesting to know how many if us girls have dated (or married) a shorter guy (or how many of you guys have dated a taller woman)? You can read the piece here (<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-29464446">link</a> ).</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cobblestones and high heels.... potential for danger!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">3) I went out to a nice traditional English town this weekend and found myself walking on some rather small cobbled stones, in heels. I had to slow my pace quite considerably, to try and avoid damaging my ankles. It got me thinking about how ladies (and men) have worn heels and attempted to walk over those very stones, and potentially done themselves a mischief. I'm not saying I would get rid of them- they are far too pretty! Is there a knack to walking over cobblestones in heels? Answers in the comments below!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">That's all for this Sunday. I hope your weekend has been good! I have been posting daily, and I am trying to keep posting regularly. Let me know if you have any post requests.</span><br />

It hasn't arrived yet but I'll let you know how I get on. I've ordered a knitted Olive skirt, two floppy felt fedora hats (I love the style, I'm just not sure if it will suit me) and a knitted heart jumper. I think the jumper is a cropped style but I hope that I can wear it with some of my high waisted vintage skirts... Topshop also have a good tall section which is worth a look.</span><br />

As we move into October (and autumn) I have been digging out my knitted jumpers, and trying to wear jackets over the top. It is important to buy a jacket that has enough space to wear a warm jumper underneath. Get it wrong and once you have a jumper and a jacket on, you'll find yourself unable to bend your arms. It might be bearable at the beginning of the day, but trust me, by the afternoon you'll be unable to bend your arm, let alone carry your handbag! I love a good jacket and skirt combination, and the Monsoon Galaxy skirt is stunning- ready to party, or just add sparkle to the day. I was quite surprised to find a sterling silver ring at Accessorize for a bargain price, and the cute shoes currently have 20% off until the end of the week. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">As a makeup artist, it is sort of an unwritten rule that you wear black a lot. Many makeup schools, counters (MAC) and agencies ask that you wear black. Lets face it, makeup can be very messy so not only is black practical, it is easy to match an outfit in a precious few minutes (or at 5am for a early shoot) and look professional. This isn't to say makeup artists don't wear other colours (of course they do!), it just means the majority will have a wardrobe that has a lot of black staples in it!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Sam's style is simple glamorous chic. Clean classic pieces with maybe one statement item of clothing or jewellery. She mixes high-street items with higher end brands, and is not afraid of a bit of colour. Although her job can demand appropriate professional attire, she is also a mum and time is precious. Sometimes you just need to chuck on a jumper, pair of jeans and trainers and run out the door. Sam's style shows how flattering clothes can be with the right cut and fit. She has a killer figure due to healthy eating (and a bit of guidance from her brother who is a personal trainer and one half of The Lean Machines (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/TheLeanMachines">link</a>)). However there are some style tips that we can all learn from, regardless of our height and weight.</span><br />

SOCKS! Not exactly the most exciting item of a wardrobe, but these are worth a post on the blog. BAM socks! (Does this name make anyone think of Batman beating up baddies? BAM! KAPOW!)</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">BAM Bamboo Socks</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">They were a birthday gift last year, and I put them in my drawer until I had trainers and jeans day. Given the bright pattern I needed to wear them with the right outfit! The purchase was made for the novel idea that they are made from Bamboo and thus more ethical and sustainable than some other fabric sources. My first thought was 'they're pretty, and soft, but I bet they wont wash well'. How wrong could I be?</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">BAM! KAPOW! THUD!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">These socks are still as soft as when I was given them. The colour hasn't run, and there are no wholes. The moths haven't attacked them and they fit my feet perfectly. All that sounds like a good pair of socks, but hardly 'amazing' I hear you say! Well this is the amazing bit, that I didn't discover until I put them on the first time. The toe box is made from soft, snuggly toweling. This cushions your toes, not only keeping them warm but also helping to create a mini duvet for your feet.</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A hidden, soft cushion for your toes!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">If you are anything like me, once my feet get cold they are very difficult to warm up. This means that in the colder months, appropriate socks are needed. However if I wear those socks in the warmer months I find my feet overheating. I have found BAM socks to regulate my feet perfectly. I am not sure but I would think this has something to do with the natural fibers.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">If you want to treat your feet, then I really recommend BAM socks. Just don't feed them to a panda!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Bam socks are available for men and women and come in a variety of colours from plain black to funky stripes. You can find Bam online <a href="http://www.bambooclothing.co.uk/category/UA601">here</a>, or at other outlets such as Riley and Silver (<a href="http://www.rileyandsilver.co.uk/mens-aubergine-and-powder-blue-stripey-bamboo-socks-by-bam-clothing-5863-p.asp">link</a>) or amazon (<a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/BAM-Bamboo-Clothing-High-Performance/dp/B00EORH1WK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1411723514&sr=8-2&keywords=bam+bamboo+socks">link</a>) and ebay (<a href="http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sop=2&_nkw=bam+socks&_frs=1">link</a>). It is also worth checking out your local natural health food shop to see if they are a stockist.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Bam make lots of yoga and sports wear too and if it is as good as the socks, it'd be perfect for working out in.</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Alice Temperley blends ethereal style with white plimsolls</td></tr>

On the recent catwalk during SS15 (spring summer 2015) shows a trend has emerged for flat shoes. I don't deny that heels can look really pretty, slimming, lengthening and help you see over the crowds BUT heels can also be incredibly painful, damaging to the body and completely impractical at times! Hopefully the recent catwalks have shown that flat shoes can be cool- fashionable, styling AND comfy!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6dq-S3Jma1A/VCV0TbZ5w2I/AAAAAAAAAdA/pJbpq36uatE/s1600/DKNY%2BFlat%2Bshoes%2Band%2BPRom.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6dq-S3Jma1A/VCV0TbZ5w2I/AAAAAAAAAdA/pJbpq36uatE/s1600/DKNY%2BFlat%2Bshoes%2Band%2BPRom.jpeg" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">DKNY Prom dress with trainers, but still feminine</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I'll be interesting to see how this trend manifests next spring, from plimsoll trainers with prom dresses to masculine brogues with floaty florals. I am pleased at the prospect that there may be more choices of flat footwear available on the high street next spring- a welcome change to 5 or 6 inch stiletto platforms (which I rarely wear).<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Karen Walker Brogues and Florals</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Of course, designers will always try to do something just a little different. Victoria Beckham offered these flat shoes with a pointy toe. They look great on this model but as white makes your feet look bigger, I am not sure I could get away with these shoes. They sort of look like turtle or fish fins to me... maybe I could wear them in the water? If I see them in person I will take a close up photo for you all!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-azpezC8LKI0/VCV0Uc3f6JI/AAAAAAAAAcs/kxpOvCtWRrw/s1600/Victoria%2BBeckham%2BFlat%2BShoes%2BSS15.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-azpezC8LKI0/VCV0Uc3f6JI/AAAAAAAAAcs/kxpOvCtWRrw/s1600/Victoria%2BBeckham%2BFlat%2BShoes%2BSS15.jpeg" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Victoria Beckham does pointy flats.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
It is not just shoes and trainers that come with the catwalk stamp. BCBGMAZAZRIA teamed this light and airy cream ensemble with flat sandals. I think we will be seeing quite a few thick banded sandals too. Comfy for walking to work, tight enough to stay on but also stylish with formal wear. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zsf7WntWAYg/VCV0TDwukFI/AAAAAAAAAcg/fWfj9pY2P0k/s1600/BCBGMAZAZRIA%2BSS15%2BFlat%2Bshoes.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zsf7WntWAYg/VCV0TDwukFI/AAAAAAAAAcg/fWfj9pY2P0k/s1600/BCBGMAZAZRIA%2BSS15%2BFlat%2Bshoes.jpeg" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Flat Sandals with trousers!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I'm not one to copy the catwalk directly, but I can feel that my feet are pleased that they may have a bit more choice next spring!<br />
<br />
Are flats a yes or no for you? Do you find styling flats with work wear easy or difficult?<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">For those who don't know Lauren, she came to the public eye through two of the very first 'reality tv' shows- 'Laguna Beach: The Real O.C.' following several teens during the last few years of high school, and 'The Hills' following a few of the Laguna Beach kids as they move to L.A. for college, careers, dating, partying, shopping and much more. I recently re-watched 'The Hills' (it's very cheap to pick up individual DVDs and box sets on ebay- <a href="http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=%22The+Hills%22+-have&_sop=2&_from=R40|R40|R40&_osacat=11232&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X%22The+Hills%22+-have+-run&_nkw=%22The+Hills%22+-have+-run&_sacat=11232">link</a>) and it is a superficial pleasure. I keep changing my mind over which series is the best, but currently 2 or 3! </span><br />

</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Since her 'Hills' days Lauren has graduated from fashion school, created her own fashion collection and generally ring fenced her personal life from the public eye. She has a good business sense and has managed to successfully transition from a 'reality tv star' into a respected business woman and consultant- something most 'reality stars' struggle to do. Of course it helps that Lauren started from a privileged background, but she hasn't rested on her laurels and lived on the bank off the bank of mum and dad. Lauren has earned her stripes and made her own path- something we all can learn from regardless of our starting point.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">For someone who is fairly private, Lauren let Instyle into her apartment and gave them a bit of a tour. I love how everything feels light and airy, minimal and stylist... oh and her closet.... her closet is probably the size of most people's lounge! I love the clutter free surfaces, and the careful placement of the items that are out. Less is definitely more. Lauren seems to favour light pastel hues, although there are one or two more colorful pieces. Clutter free is easier to clean too.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Exciting news! Taller Than Your Average (<a href="http://tallerthanyouraverage.com/">TTYA</a>), clothing label founded by former ASOS stylist Irene Agbontaen, have collaborated with <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/">Long Tall Sally</a> to create an 18 piece capsule collection. Modeled by the stunning Jamie Gunns and photographed by Alex Sainsbury, the collection aims to make core staples more accessible for the taller women (5' 8" and above).</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I am a big fan of Long Tall Sally (<a href="http://5foot10.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/long-tall-sally-bloggers-breakfast.html">see my visit to HQ here</a>). Their philosophy is that the taller girl shouldn't have to compromise on style or choice. Just take a look at their jeans- several different leg lengths AND colours! Irene has a similar philosophy and her mission is to help the taller girl feel 'style conscious, not self-conscious'. TTYA currently has a cult following including Elle MacPherson, Jourdan Dunn, Daisy Lowe and Jessie J.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The collection looks great and costs range from £24- £110. It is a real mixture of pieces that can be worn together, or mixed with other items from your wardrobe. I've shared a few of my fashion picks below, including a few styling tips. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E9fGWxZc0Zo/VCQGm_iMHPI/AAAAAAAAAZE/E1x9Pfb8mIc/s1600/TTYA%2BLTS%2BDress%2BJamie%2BGunns.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E9fGWxZc0Zo/VCQGm_iMHPI/AAAAAAAAAZE/E1x9Pfb8mIc/s1600/TTYA%2BLTS%2BDress%2BJamie%2BGunns.jpg" height="361" width="400" /></a></span></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Removable Collar Dress (<a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/tall/ttya-removable-collar-dress-05T41#05T41BLA">link</a>)</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Take the Removable Collar Dress (yes removable), you could style it for the office, or an evening out with dainty heels (as above), or why not remove the collar, add dark tights and lace up boots. Chuck on a denim jacket or biker jacket and you are dressed for going down to the shops or grabbing a quick coffee.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Jourdan was wearing it above- the striped wrap shirt. There has been a really big trend this summer for cropped tops and high waisted skirts that display a bit of midriff. As a (taller) girl, I often sport this trend purely by accident (go me!)! I love that this monochrome striped top is long enough to skim the hips- even when you (inevitably) visit the supermarket and get asked to reach down a tin of sweetcorn off the top shelf. I'm not sure I am brave enough to 'bare' the deep V so I would style it over a simple plain vest top (or even one with lace trim to compliment the textures). I think this might also look good with a thick, black or white elasticated to clinch in the waist. Or even this belt from Altuzarra for Target (<a href="http://www.net-a-porter.com/gb/en/product/480232">link</a>) and a pair of wet look black leggings.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Transitioning from summer to autumn is always tricky, but layering is the answer. Layering thin clothes under a jacket means that if the weather suddenly changes during the day, you can adjust the layers accordingly. (I always find dressing for the day a challenge due to the weather first thing in the morning completely changing by the time I am dressed!). This yeti coat looks like lots of fun. There is something very Marilyn Monroe about it. I can imagine walking a red carpet in lots of sparkly jewels and a killer dress... then getting up the next morning and chucking it on over a vintage rock band t-shirt with some dark skinny jeans and a pair of converse. </span><br />

(Most pieces are now <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/">online</a> and there is 20% off until Sunday!) I hung out with Isobel Pooley, ate croissants and chatted about tall life and fashion! Long Tall Sally are a high street brand with a twist- they cater for the taller girl! Gone are the days of limited choice as LTS carry a mixture of classic staples and trendy pieces to cater for every occasion including casual, formal, sleep, beach, party and swimwear.... plus accessories and shoes!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">(I have been absolutely snowed under with work (plus study and travel) so you may have noticed a lack of posts and tweets recently. It's not intentional, and I hope to have a bit more time shortly!) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The blogger's breakfast was held at their head offices in central London. I was hosted by Alice, Ricarda and Jane of Long Tall Sally- and their brand ambassador 6' 3" British high jumper Isobel Pooley. Isobel has such a positive attitude (and amazing skin)- I think she deserves her own post on 5 foot 10 so stay tuned! More on Isobel later! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">While at the head office I met Jane Woolf who is their senior garment technician. She has a passion for tall. She hit the nail on the head by saying "shorter people can hide, but if you are a taller person, you cant hide. Tall girls try to shop on the high street to fit in, and some can see shopping at LTS as giving up on wearing what everyone else wears. It is important that people feel comfortable in their clothes, regardless of height, size or shape". Jane was so passionate about us tall(er) girls not having to compromise on style, trend or choice.</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Isobel (l) and me. I'll do an outfit post separately.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">A lot of brands see tall (or petite ranges) as a small niche and not an investment. Consequently they give it to the junior workers as away to cut their teeth before they are promoted to work on the regular range (the biggest revenue spinner). This can mean high street stores end up designing a range, picking a few safe items and then simply add an extra inch or two of fabric on the bottom for the 'tall' range. The result? Things like pockets, knees and waists are all in wrong place! LTS invest specialist attention into the range so that all elements are proportioned. Jane explained how LTS scale every outfit for the taller range, paying specific attention to the details such as waist tucks, pockets, buttons, patterns- even distressed rips in faded jeans. Who wants a pair of distressed jeans where the knee rips actually fall on the thighs? Who wants a cardigan where the pockets are too high and you cant rest your hands in them? Who wants every dress to be an empire line waist? Not me! I was also pleased to hear that their trousers come in 34", 36" and 38" leg, (which means you can copy me and buy a size longer and have an external turn up on your jeans!).</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I love blues so the <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/p/deluxe-by-lts:-jersey-maxi-dress-05G35#05G35ULT">dress in the center </a>caught my eye for a wedding outfit this summer.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">There are some really lovely pieces in the spring summer range, from <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/search?q=maxi&p=maxi">maxi dresses</a> for the beach (with appropriate waist lines and skirt lengths), to long line tops in bright colours and patterns (that us taller girls wont have to constantly pull down throughout the day). There were some gorgeous formal wear dresses- check out the blue dress below. I was also quite taken by their jumpsuits as I haven't worn a jumpsuit/playsuit since I was about 12 because I great too tall. These deserve their own post! It goes without saying, that all their clothes are modeled by tall women- so no 'sample size' promo material that is then scaled for retail. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I was also quite taken by some of their <a href="http://www.longtallsally.com/c/tall/footwear">shoes.</a> I always find sensible heels difficult to find. I'm not a fan of huge platforms- because- well- they hurt and they are bad for your feel/posture/body. While browsing the new collection I found out that LTS stock shoes up to a UK women's size 11, and stock several heel heights! I know a few readers have asked me about shoes so have a look at the range in store, or online. </span><br />

Being taller than all the lads wasn’t great either! They’ve mostly overtaken me now so I don’t stand out a ridiculous amount amongst my peers, which contributes to feeling happier with my height. <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The oldest surviving handbag in the world!</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">While reading the news yesterday I found out the <b>world's oldest surviving handbag</b> has been identified. It was made in <b>Mosel, Northern Iraq</b> and looks pretty amazing considering it was made in the <b>14th Century!</b> Scientists were trying to work out what it was, and suggested all sorts of uses from a document wallet, to book bag. Now, they have decided it is a <b>women's handbag</b>.</span><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-otOyfZO0NJc/UwoWbnCEEJI/AAAAAAAAAV0/9262MhdhHRo/s1600/Courtauld+bag+lid.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-otOyfZO0NJc/UwoWbnCEEJI/AAAAAAAAAV0/9262MhdhHRo/s1600/Courtauld+bag+lid.jpg" height="86" width="400" /></a></span></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Scene on the lid using gold and silver on brass.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">It is made of brass, inlaid with gold an silver. The decoration shows Islamic scenes, with some reference to the Il-Khanid dynasty (Mongolian ruler who took over in the 14th Century). Whats more it is currently on display at London's Courtauld Gallery till mid May (<a href="http://www.courtauld.ac.uk/gallery/exhibitions/2014/Court-and-Craft/index.shtml">link</a>) and costs entry costs just £3 if you go on a Monday!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-plejinsmFKc/UwoWcDmeofI/AAAAAAAAAWM/EFOjdRsqp0U/s1600/_73138654_bag_carrier_courtauld304jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-plejinsmFKc/UwoWcDmeofI/AAAAAAAAAWM/EFOjdRsqp0U/s1600/_73138654_bag_carrier_courtauld304jpg.jpg" height="400" width="386" /></a></span></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">See the lady looking at her reflection in the mirror?</span></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Looking at the bag, I can't quite take in how old it is. It looks like there was a strap (as there is a strap ring at the side). It sort of reminds me of a metal lunch pail (but more ornate). I love the Arabic and Moreish design with the beautiful scalloped edge- though I am not sure if it would be heavy to carry about. That said, my (lighter material) bag is often too heavy. If anyone else has to move my bag, they often groan and puff exclaiming how 'heavy' my bag is and 'what on earth do you carry about in it?'! At least if my bag was metal, I would have an excuse as to its weight!</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L4SiEthLEU4/UwoWb5BwR-I/AAAAAAAAAV4/GfRbSvAD2HY/s1600/Metal+Lunch+Pail+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L4SiEthLEU4/UwoWb5BwR-I/AAAAAAAAAV4/GfRbSvAD2HY/s1600/Metal+Lunch+Pail+1.jpg" height="298" width="400" /></a></span></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Was this lunch pail inspired by the oldest surviving handbag in the world?</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This is one bag I would have loved to have seen on Youtube with a 'What's in my bag?' tag- even more so if a 14th century noble lady was presenting the video! I wonder if this 'oldest surviving handbag' declaration will see any similar bags creep out of the woodwork. I can sort of imagine Indiana Jones carting one of these about instead of his leather satchel- carrying lost treasures around safely. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I am predicting that one or two designers will have a collection out shortly, heavily influenced by this bag. I like middle eastern design so I'd be quite happy to see this trend next season.</span><br />
